DAM Center Panel 1

I am proud to reveal I will exhibit my lace work at the Denver Art Museum. It is an amazing accomplishment and I can hardly believe it! I begin installing the work in early September and the opening is October 1st.

The plastic grocery bag lace is the main attraction of the exhibit and the other two parts support it. The plastic yarn (plarn) extra large bobbin lace is worked on the same peg board panels I made for the Paper or… lace. I am glad I get to use the panels again. I went with slightly wider strips of bags and found a better way to connect everything. All and all, this plarn lace is going much better than the previous.

The first part of the bobbin lace piece is only half-stitch. Eight to nine feet of lace will drape, before the main portion of the lace (with a detailed design) will come down a 10-ft wall. Well-placed lighting will cast beautiful lace shadows on the floor and walls. I cannot wait to actually see it installed and the lace in the space it was designed for!
