Bask in the glory of my GR-8 shuttles made by the Shuttle Brothers. This is really the only type of shuttle I use now. I prefer the resin type because they are so small. Of course, I have several wooden GR-8 shuttles too. The craftmanship of the shuttles are perfection!

For winter gift exchanges with friends and family, we like to give homemade/handmade presents. I usually give lace. Every year, I plan to do a bobbin lace project of some sort, but it never works out. Since I’ve been tatting for over a decade, it is easier for me to get out the shuttles and put together a fun piece.

I’ve been following Marilee Rockley’s work for many, many years. She is the person who inspired me to dye tatting thread, finding beautiful color-ways. Marilee is also a brilliant tatter who has innovative designs, like wire wrapping with tatting. So, when I found out she had an online Craftsy class, I purchased it immediately. I got the advanced course, but she also offers beginner classes too.

The tatting class is filled with beautiful projects and her explanations are great. I started the Floating Rings & Smooth Curves: Shell Pendent. I rarely put beads in my tatted pieces, but I LOVE them. Once I understood the pattern and techniques, the shells were easy to make.
