Bobbin Lace Print

My amazing neighbor, Catherine Chauvin, teaches printmaking at DU. She possesses incredible talent, is a wealth of knowledge, and to top it off, she is a very kind person. It is no secret that I am a lacemaker, so Cath asked if there was a piece of lace she could use to make a print. It needed to be something larger, so the thread would show up. I made this early lace piece when I first got into bobbin lace. I found this plaited lace technique fascinating, because all the threads stay together from beginning to end. You can easily see this, since I used a different color for each path.

The print she created from the lace is stunning! I absolutely love all of Catherine’s work and admire her artist’s eye. I am honored that she would make something so beautiful from my lace.
