Rose Bobbin Lace

I am working on the cloth stitch trails lesson with The Adventurous Lacemakers group. I normally create geometric (perfectly symmetrical) patterns, so this is far from my normal design abilities. I decided to use a rose tattoo as my inspiration. I think it should work well for this type of pattern.

I started doing an edge trail in my patterns after the bee. I thought it would be a great edge and another way to add color to the design. Even though I had a lot of difficulty with this design decision when making the 3 versions of the fox, I am persisting. I need to continue practicing finishing or give up on this type of border.

Changing aspects of the design on the fly can be difficult. Thankfully, this choice was not. I tried using a different color for the worker pair, but didn’t like how the threads looked outside of the gimp (thicker thread). I removed the red worker pair and kept the black throughout the background and trail.
