The first hand of Hierarchy is complete. The raised stitching really helped separate all the parts of the hand, wrist, and arm. Of course, that’s why the technique is used. It accentuates and delineates each part of the lace, making it look complete.
This part is my favorite. Finally getting the piece off the backing, all the random threads pulled/clipped, and really see it as a finished work of art. It definitely reflects the inspiration print. Next steps will be completing the second hand in needle lace, and then the background as bobbin lace. Unfortunately for this project, I have a few other pressing lace works that need to be completed before coming back to this. Eventually, it will happen.
