I adjusted Maggie Hensel Brown’s pattern from the class she taught in Denver, and remade it with silk thread. We previously used a cotton thread, but the silk is finer/thinner. This is the thread I use most often, since it is lovely, comes in many colors, and is readily available locally. Since the silk is thinner, I also sized the pattern down.

I am really glad the silk worked out, because I want to use that in a future project. Really, I’ve been eating-up needle lace classes to ready myself for the project I have in mind. It is an homage to the beautiful art of a dear friend of mine.

This is a comparison of the original cotton sampler I did in the class (left) and the smaller silk sampler with the adjusted pattern (right).
