When I heard Maggie Hensel Brown was coming to New York to speak during the Lacemaker’s Day at the Threads Of Power exhibit, I knew I had to reach out to her. I previously took a pre-recorded online class from her through the Doily Free Zone, where I made a heart needle lace piece called Content Creator’s Desire. Her online class was wonderful and I really wanted to take one in person. Thankfully, when I contacted Maggie about coming to Colorado, she was all for the idea.

Since Maggie has a beautiful piece at the Denver Art Museum, I also reached out to them about having the class at the museum. Again, I was successful, and we had a beautiful, bright space to have a needle lace class. We all really had such a wonderful time. Maggie is an EXCELLENT teacher. If you ever get the chance to take an online or in person class from her, I highly recommend it!

The class worked on a square with triangles on either side, so we could learn different stitches while accommodating for a varying space.

We also did a border. While I had seen this type of border on lace before, but had no idea how it was done.

This is my setup at home with a magnifier directly in front of me.
