It is difficult to see the effectiveness of the two-toned tulle technique beyond the pins, but in the end it worked beautifully. With such a small piece, I think the gimp (thicker thread) was needed to make the two colors stand out. I could see this concept working well for a pictorial piece, although you might need to step back to really see any detail. I believe that as a project I might try in the future.
